Salifert Nitrate Test
Salifert Nitrate Test for fresh and sea water
In a well-established aquarium, nitrite is converted into nitrate, after which this nitrate is reduced again to nitrite and then to harmless gaseous nitrogen, provided that oxygen-poor zones, such as in living reef rock and other filter materials, are present in the aquarium.
If this cycle is interrupted, nitrite, which is highly toxic to fish and invertebrates, accumulates in high concentrations. The function of many nitrite test kits is impaired by amines, such as naturally occurring and vital amino acids. The nitrate content in a reef aquarium should be below 1 mg/l, while higher values may be considered normal in fish-only aquariums.
As with nitrite, many nitrate test kits are interfered with by amines, which can cause nitrate levels to be much lower than they actually are. The Salifert test kit is not susceptible to such interference and provides accurate and rapid test results with a total measurement time of less than 3 minutes.
The measuring range of the test set covers very low to very high nitrate concentrations (approx. 0.2 - 100 mg/l total content).
Salifert Nitrate Test for fresh and sea water
- Fast color development (within 60 seconds). Full testing is completed in 3 minutes
- Two concentration ranges are detected with the same test (dilution is not necessary)
- the low range detects nitrate concentrations of 0.2 - 10 mg/L
- the middle range detects nitrate concentrations of 4 - 100 mg/L
- The delivered test quantity is sufficient for around 50 tests
- Suitable for use in marine and freshwater areas
